If it's the cab mounts rusted away, the truck is NOT safe to drive, and probably should be put out to pasture. I had a '70 F100 that did that, and the cab was just resting on the frame. It puts an abrnormal load on the steering column and box, it can cause the throttle to stick, and the whole truck could literally fall apart in an accident! I can't imagine it would worth fixing this on a '93 Ranger, IMHO.

I guess if you really wanted to and the frame still looks good, you could get another cab from a junkyard. But the frame is probably weakened too.

You'd be best with another truck. Make sure you wash that thing good underneath after it's driven in salt and this won't happen again!

Just remember, it's not safe. No matter how good of a job the mechanic or yourself does, there's going to be structural weak points. Probably not a problem in an average day to day enviroment, but if you ever get in a wreck...

Why don't you just go ahead and start lookin' for a new vehicle?

I do know a guy who hauled fertilizer on his '72 F100. Of course it rusted everywhere, including the frame. The frame looks like it's ready to break in two and the truck is bent. But he's been driving it that way for twenty years now and it hasn't broke yet.

If you really like this truck and want to keep it, get a cab from the junkyard. I can understand not wanting to get rid of a faithful friend.

I agree, keep the truck, and fix it up as your budget allows. I'm sure it's paid for, so it wouldn't cost you nothing to keep it, and still buy another, I'm sure you wouldn't get much for it to trade it in, or sell it in it's present condition. You use metrics, so you must not be from the states, but here, there are places in the south, and out west that sell rust free truck parts, such as cabs, and doors, and things, used of course. There's also companies here in the states that produce fiberglass ranger parts, like fenders, hoods, and even bed sides. As long as your frame is good, I would turn it into my hobby, and fixer up, as money, and time allows. Money is the same as currency, not sure where your from.

I'm willing to say that its entirly possible to weld 'er up. If you use the right metal in the right places and do a good job it can be perfectly road safe. My friends dad had an old ambulance and cut a 1 foot section out of the frame and welded it together and put a dually box on it and a fiber glass ext cab and uses it to haul his camper. Its entirely possible to do something such as adding some more sheetmetal to your cab in spots, or whatever it needs.

Sure you can fix it, all new floorboards can be welded in, with suports, I didn't mean to give the impression that it couldn't be fixed, it's done all the time, if the rest of the cab is in good shape, thats a possability for sure, but if the rest of the cab isn't that great, it's better to just replace the entire cab. JC WHITNEY sells floorboards, floorboard patch panels, and new suports, and I'm sure there are others as well.
