84 Ranger Cab Swop

84 Ranger Cab Swop
I have an 84 4x4 Ranger that was rolled. The cab is crushed by the rest of it looks fine. It was in excellent shape, so I would like to put a new cab on it, but I'm not sure what other bodies I can work with. I have heard that the same body was used from 82 to 88; can anyone confirm this? I also don't know if that includes 4x2. I have found an 83 4x2 in pretty good shape for a reasonable price. Can I easily put that cab on my frame?
Also, where I can I find some good links about doing this swop? Most of the work I have done so far has been engine and mechanical, so I'm heading into new territory here.
