As assembled air would be pushed into the crankcase rather than drawn out.

Thanks for confirming that. when I turn it, it no longer lines up with the mounting bracket. the intake has been modified so I'm not sure if the part is original or after market. Its been assembled that way for years.

Hey, wait, where's that hose go coming off the bottom of it?? It looks like your crankcase breather on the valve cover is turned around sot the hose is off the rear of it... When it should come out the front, and than into a 90* hose into that plastic thing that bolts to the bracket.

Yes, as I said the intake has been modified. the hose at the bottom goes to a tank (pvc pipe) under the floor board where it is supposed to store fluid separated from the crankcase air. so the tube you see at the bottom does go back to the crankcase.

Again thanks for you input. I decided that collar with the pipe connected is factory and I put it back as in the photo. Re-thinking the airflow I believe it will pull from the crankcase due to the resistance the filter creates.
