2003 engine light on, no defects noted
I hope you all can help me out as I am in a jam. I need to move my 5th wheel which is in a trailer park at the moment. I went to take my truck to move it and the engine light came on and it seems to idle a little rough. I hooked up a code reader to the diagnostic port and it says no codes are found. I have a fuel pressure gauge, boost gauge, Exhaust gauge and they all seem to be fine, the original gauges in the dash all seem normal as well. I have stage 1.5 injectors installed with a power hungry programmer and adrenaline HPOP. the truck sounds fine but vibrates pretty good when I try to drive it. I am also getting black exhaust smoke from the tail pipe when I gas it. This is new as it always ran really clean unless I was in the higher setting on the power hungry controller.
So to recap, idles rough, vibration while driving, engine light on with no codes when my code reader is plugged in, black smoke out of tail pipe. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
sounds like what happened to my truck, had a chip in it, and it started acting strainge on the fueling. sometimes it wouldnt even start,.
pulled the chip and cleared codes, and it didnt come back until i needed UVCH.
I have a buddy that has a code reader that he said will work so I am going to bring it to him tomorrow after work.
I was able to switch the setting on the chip and can feel it switch the way it runs but it still seems to be rough at idle and gets worse the faster you go.
I did check the valve cover harness connection on each side and both seem to be on there tight and no rubbing of the wires.
Thanks for the help and keep the suggestions coming

A good investment to consider is Torque Pro (guessing you have at least an android device in your house some where?) and a OBD2 adapter like the OBD link MX (I think that is its name) if you have any further questions or want more info you can check out the Torque PRO Faq for more info on both items, hope it will help
I have twin EGTs - left and right, so I know which side the problem is. When a UVCH on the right goes, the EGT gauge reads hot. When the UVCH on the left goes (most common location for a single EGT probe), the EGT reads from normal to dead cold to anywhere in between. When the EGT probe is post-turbo, you get no clues on which side the problem is.
OBDII tools link in my signature is worth a read to solve the scanner problem.
