I am trying to find a solution to reset my system. I have a 1999 F150 5.4L and the key was not disarming the security system earlier today. Like an idiot I tried just unlocking the doors manually and the alarm went off. I have disconnected the battery and done nothing else so the damn thing shuts up. I am hoping it is just a dead battery in the key fob but if not is there anything I can do to reset the system?
You do not have a "SecuriLock System" problem (that's the PATS system), you have an alarm system problem.
Most likely, the alarm system is an aftermarket or dealer-installed unit, so you're going to have to 1) figure out what is installed (look under the dash for the control module) and then 2) find someone who knows how to either fix it or to uninstall it.
Thanks for the help projectSHO98. I was reading through other threads and the owners manual and if I turn the car on with the transponder key will that also stop the alarm? I know these are dumb questions, this is my first car and I cant really spend alot of money on a mechanic to uninstall it right now. If this works then I am planning on manually locking/unlocking from now on.
