Either there on a budget or someone is dropping the ball on the engineering side. Hopefully the shocks on the 17's will be better quality..
My guess would be the budget they have. Not sure why theo on a 50-70k truck!? But I would be glad to pay 400 more for the truck if it had good shocks on it regardless at least it is a easy item to change.

I agree 100%.. Look at the shock pkg on the F150 Raptor, uses Fox shocks..
My luck Ford will switch to them in 18' being I wont be able to trade again till 2020..

The stock shocks were garbage on all of my trucks. Here is what 45K miles look like on mine... no rebound at all, barely any compression left. I replaced them with bilstein 5100 and couldn't be happier.

Just got through (yesterday) replacing my 80K Monroe Gas Magnums. Still plenty of gas, no oil leaks but the valving was warn. No bounce, just rough ride. This will be the third set in 240K miles. I have no interest in rebuilding shocks. $140 for four. Maybe I will consider new shocks along with new tires every time. Makes the truck a "Pleasure to drive again".

Rebuilding shocks is expensive. I'm not qualified to do such a thing so I took mine to the local Sway-A-Way dealer. $400 to rebuild a set of shocks that probably cost me $1000. Next time it will be Bilsteins.
