Super Duty shocks??

I sure hope Ford has improved the shocks on these trucks! With all the tough testing Ford does surely by now they see the need to upgrade the damn shocks!

I'm tired of spending this much coin on a truck and get a pos shock Ford is somehow passing inspection on year after year, would had thought the testing team would had noticed it in 11' but NOPE my 16' is the very same.

Ford WHOEVER is over your shock program needs to be fired and has surprised me your team has let this issue go on as long as it has!
Hire me I can do a better job!

I've had a 12, 15, and 2016. All the standard black non FX4 shocks. Never had any problems with any of them, but I know a lot of guys claim they do.

I've owned a 06,08,11 f350 and now a 16' F350 with the FX4 pkg an all with crappy Rancho branded shocks on them..
I'm sure there a lot of owners that feel the same way I do about these factory branded Rancho shocks!

Hopefully Ford has put some of our hard earned money into something we don't have to replace soon after you get the truck..
There are countless of people that have been complaining about these shocks for years, come on Ford !

Time will tell I guess..

Ditto. I think my 99' 7.3 may have the originals still.

The factory shocks seem fine to me. Lots of complaints on here about them though.

Yea guys I was on my soap box the other night after a few adult beverages so forgive me.

Yea all you have to do is a search here and see ALOT of complaints on these "rancho branded" Motorcraft shocks that Ford is putting on these trucks..

Just hope someone woke the guys up in the suspension dept for 2017...

I keep watching for problems with my shocks after hearing all the complaints but so far the "ranchos" seem fine but certainly with all the complaints there should be an upgrade I would hope.

Until you switch to a better shock you won't know how bad you have it. My truck seemed like it had too much caffeine and had a case of the jitters going over the smallest of bumps at 45 mph. The Sway A Way shocks made that a thing of the past. I subsequently found that the far less expensive Bilsteins were just as good.

The OEM shocks had maybe 5,000 miles on them. I had to almost give them away.

Well my 2001 F250 2wd LWB just rolled over 150000. Mechanic just told me the shocks (original) didn't appear to be doing much and I might think about replacing them. Truck is not used very often but the primary vehicle used to haul a 26' horse trailer gooseneck.

I note the mention of Bilstein - I would welcome any suggestions for replacements.

I have always used Monroe Gas Magnum shocks for replacements. I am sure the Bilstein shocks are good but the Monroe shocks are half the cost. In fact I just ordered a set of 4 to go on my '01 even though it is already sold waiting on my new truck. Fact is I will be driving it to California with the new owner and this thread reminded me how bad the ride is getting. Limited lifetime warranty although after 100K miles on the current set I would not feel right even asking.

This is so true more would not believe it. When I changed on my current 14 Plat. It was night and day the shakes it got going over bumps was completely gone. I changed my shocks at about 5,000 Miles I want with a little higher end shock made by Fox that is fully rebuild able and tune able if yo need it. They run from $105-$135 each when I got mine. They are the 2.0 Performance Series IFP. When I get my next truck around 18 ill do the same out of the box well worth the $$ you will not be sorry. You can look them up at ridefox.com For fun I just recently put the stock shocks back on to test if what I thought on the fox shocks after 12,000 on the fox shocks. I ran the stock shocks 1 day and took them off they are so much more harsh and unrefined compared to the fox shocks. That proved going with a good shock was the way to go.

I replaced the OEM shocks on my 2013 F-350 at 12,000 miles. They were complete garbage.

I replaced the OEM shocks on my 2015 F-350 at 2,000 miles. Again, complete garbage. Over one year later, two of the shocks still won't expand! I keep them around for fun.

In both instances I replaced them with Bilstein 5100s, certainly not the most expensive upgrade. Even so, it is truly a night and day difference, - especially if you tow anything.

Yea I really like the Fox series shocks also.. I wished Ford would put better shocks on these trucks, surely the engineers see this with all the testing that's done on the trucks..

Either there on a budget or someone is dropping the ball on the engineering side. Hopefully the shocks on the 17's will be better quality..
