Will engine throw a code if High Fan speed doesn't engage?

At what Oil Temp does the high speed fan engage?
Or at what Water Temp?
And if it doesn't engage does it throw a code that can be read by the ScanGauge??

Thanks in advance
Alan from San Diego

I was towing a small trailer through Las Vegas area where it was 110 degrees and up grades was a 215 water temp and for a short time 230 Oil temp until got off the grade

Would you consider this normal for those conditions? As soon as I came off grade things got back to 200/210EOT . Very hot conditions outside. Around San Diego at normal ambient temps I usually run low 190's water and high 190's oil

My ScanGauge says no codes thrown

My Scangauge will show there is a code on the DTC gauge when I had a fan issue, but could not read it. My Torque ApP Pro will read it. Mine, if I recall is the P0528, Fan speed sensor, had some wire chaffing.

Do you have the Fan Speed entered into your Scangauge?

yes I do now that you bring it up. Next time I am towing and getting higher temps I will look at the reading

do you think my temps while towing in such a high ambient air temp were normal? they seemed to fall back quickly after the long grades

Yes, I can say they could be considered normal depending on what you are towing. I have had my oil up to 235 during long grades in the high temps. A lot of long grades in the west.

I have had my Coolant at 222, but was there very short time. My fan will reach the 3500 rpm speed at around 218. And you know it. Normally, my coolant can get to 220 and that's about it, the fan brings it down real quick.

I have a PDF somewhere that I tracked while towing my 8,000b Travel Trail through the Cascades in Oregon. Let me see if I can find it.

Let me see if you can get this. Look through this, it's rough, but you can see what I'm saying.
