I have a '16 f250 xl with manual Windows and locks. I just ordered a keyless entry system and will be tackling the install myself. I'm not great with electrical, but I know the basics. The install seems pretty simple, I'm not worried about getting the horn to honk, but would like the parking lights to flash. I don't want to screw anything up, so was wondering if someone good with electrical on these trucks could help. There are two wires coming out of the controller for the keyless entry that is just for the lights to flash. Where and how should I tap into the parking lights, and what color wire would I be looking for?
Thanks just stokin. I think from the schematics, I should be looking for a yellow/blue wire? Do I splice into it behind the switch on the dash? Or at the junction box? I just don't want to screw something up and send power backwards through the control module or something stupid like that. I'm just ignorant to this stuff. Remember, my truck doesn't have the power equipment package, so I don't have power/lights to my doors or mirrors. I'm having to install the actuators and all.
I would say at any place you have easy access to the yellow/blue wire you could splice into it. The easiest spot might be in the wiring bundle under the driver door threshold plate. The same yellow and blue goes to the parking lights in the rear of the truck.
Where would customer access cls30 be if my truck has it, and what the crap do I do if I don't? It plainly says do not tap into any other oem wiring, I don't want to smoke the body control module or something else and my warranty be voided.
My kit showed up today, hope to install it this weekend or next week while I'm on vacation. Back up camera will be here tomorrow, luckily it draws power for the camera, sensors and monitor of the back of the trailer plugin, it's a no brainier.
