I got the ebpv out, the rod has a sleeve lock ball bearing connection on the end. Still haven't gotten the bolt out, did get it broken loose and halfway out... It is sticking though not sure if it's out and I still have a bolt left or if it's just sticking for some reason. I have kept it soaked with pb blaster all day and made sure it got in the hole. I also sprayedit with wd40.

Maybe you could recap on which bolts you do have out? On the passenger rear pedestal the bolt usually won't come all the way out as the bolt shoulder hits the pedestal, that's OK you can remove it when all other bolts are removed and the pedestal can be lifted up slightly.

IIRC there are 4 nuts that need to be removed from collector to turbo, 2 bolts on front of pedestal and 2 bolts on rear of pedestal. Also on drivers rear there is a bracket that needs to be bent up or removed to gain access in there. I just removed it as it is held on with 1 bolt that is easily accessible.

Took me a day and half getting that damn thing out but with new EBPV pedestal delete about 1 hour to reinstall.

I have removed both of the front pedestal bolts, all four bolts/nuts for the uppipes, the bracket on the rear drivers side, a large nut and washer from the rear drivers side (not sure what it's to), and I have the rear passenger pedestal bolt halfway out (it is almost up against the uppipe, it feels like it's stuck though so not sure what the deal is there). Where exactly is the rear drivers side bolt located at?

Drivers side rear is hard to see. Slide your finger down the hump on the pedestal valve in that area and you will feel the bolt head. Once that is loose or removed you can wiggle the pedestal assembly to get the back passenger one out, or just leave it there and remove it when removing the assembly. Fun job, Isn't it .. ðŸ˜*

Oh yeah tons of fun. I managed to slice my hand and arm up on a rough spot on the firewall and break a 1/4" swivel and extension. I did get my front drivers side hub converted to manual (the next one will be a breeze now that I have all ofthe tools and have done it before). I have been soaking that bolt with PB blaster all day so hopefully either tomorrow night or Saturday I will be able to work on it (I was off yesterday and today).

I finally got it off today with 15.5 hours into it. A customer at work yesterday told me about some stuff called Freeze Off, you can get it at O'Reillys; it is a penetrating oil combined with something that causes the bolt to get really really cold and contract... It worked great, had the rear drivers side bolt out in about 7 minutes. Once that was over getting the turbo out was a breeze.

Good job, you have now graduated to the "I've removed my turbo club". I'll check out that Freeze stuff, thanks for the tip. Post back when everything is back together.

I have the turbo halfway apart, I have a non ebpv early 99 pedestal on the way and am going to pick up a donor turbo from the pick and pull. Has anyone had an issue with getting the turbo apart? The shaft on the exhaust side of the turbo is not an 18mm... Is there a special tool for holding that side still to take it apart?

I stuck a screw driver in there and gently loosen the compressor wheel by hand.

Ok, I'll try that. Do I need to be careful of the wheel? I kind of have a tendency to apply too much force and break things... Whether I'm being careful or not

I would not stick a screwdriver in there. If yours is rounded off a pair of vice grips will hold it sufficiently, crack or brake a blade and it's not worth it. The turbine side can be held, and the compressor wheel should unscrew fairly easy.
