Cleaning MAF

Does the MAF on a 1999 F150 need to be removed to clean it? I would like to avoid messing with the MAF anymore than I have to.
Thank You.

You should be able to clean it while it's in the intake tubing. Just disconnect the air filter and remove it with it's housing. The air filter housing is just hose clamped to the rest of the intake. Once you've got an eye on the MAF from the inside of the intake tube, just take some MAF cleaner and spray the crap out of it. I would spray it while the truck is running, or else frequently run the truck between sprays so that it can suck in the cleaner and clean the inside of the throttle body as well.

Good luck!
