door swap
door swap
im going tomorrow to pick up some parts from a guy that is parting out his truck and im thinking about grabbing his doors also mine are all screwed up
the wires are bare and the windows dont work the motor on the drivers side
works but wont go down with the switch not to mention that some one cut it up with an angle grinder and the passenger window motor is shot and the owner before me took all the guts out so he could raise the window with his hands its all cut up and rigged
so my questions are
1 how do you unplug the door wiring harness or will i have to splice all the wires
2 the doors he has are rust free how can i keep them that way
3 is there somthing outside the door that would keep the drivers window
from going down

You'll still have to repair the wires, but it should be much easier once you have the doors off. Look for liquid silver bearing solder. Kimbell Midwest sells it. Get some heat shrink tubing and a butane torch (nothing crazy, I just use a pencil style). Twist the wires, dab the solder on them, hit with torch for a couple seconds, slide your heart shrink down, shrink with torch, done. Been doing electrical for years and I love that stuff. It's like a grey paste. Huge time saver. Second, you can use a petroleum type product in the doors, like a spray grease (Kimbell Midwest also makes) or look at Eastwood Company and see what kind of stuff they have. You might want to start off by getting down in there with rattle can rust converter in case any has started growing.... then do your preventative.
