The Super Titan is a straight in hitch. OK if your trailer height aligns with the hitch height. With the taller trucks many of the tow behind trailers need an offset hitch to ride level as they should. Now if we only had some damn specs we could analyze which works for which trailer!!
Yea Rasalas that was what I was thinking. Is there no drop option?
I imagine there will be a choice of hitches available within a few months. When Reese came out with the Titan 2 1/2" there were limited options at first. Then Ford picked up the 2 1/2 and lots different drops shortly showed up in the marketplace.
I installed the Titan on my '01 to handle the 30" extension so I could pull a trailer with the camper on board. The even stronger 3" is welcome peace of mind even though the 2 1/2 is adequate for the current loads.
I don't get it, the 2.5" ***** out there are rated at 20K+ what is a 3" going to do? Who's going to tow 20K with a bumper pull? do they even make trailers rated for that which aren't rated for air brakes?

3" receiver allows for more weight carrying ability on the hitch.
20k with a bumper pull is not really that hard to do - for example, some of the larger dump trailers are easily grossing that. I have a 16.5k equipment hauler with a pintle connection and electric brakes.
Plenty of trailer manufacturers have electric over hydraulic brakes capable of stopping that weight. But like I said, I don't think Ford's intention is really for increased bumper pull towing...just weight carrying.

Some of the 2 5/16" ***** are rated to 30K. 3" ***** are rated up to 40K. The 3" receivers don't necessarily mean someone will have a 3" ball.
And yes they do make the equipment. I know a couple of small contractors who use their DW pickups to move equipment. One fellow moves his D-4 Cat (16,000lbs) on a pintle hitch trailer (6-7Klbs) easily. He wants to move up to a gooseneck trailer mainly because they ride so much better with weight and the weight is better distributed on the truck. The equipment is capable and gets better every year. Gone are the days when one needed a legitimate 6 wheel dump truck to move even the smaller equipment.
These new trucks need some weight to settle em down, so on 3" they're designed to carry more weight, and josh correct me if I'm wrong but it'll take an awful heavy trailer to require a WD hitch, maybe not at all, so you won't need one more than likely, at least I won't be using one under the required weight number
