F450 rail adapter for 25K

I have a 2016 Ford F-450 on order which is supposed to be delivered this Friday. The question I have is that Reese and others make only a 20K rail adapter kit. The toy hauler we are purchasing is 18K dry and 23K GVWR. I want to use a 25K air ride hitch but can not seem to find a 25K rated rails adapter. The truck comes with the factory puck system. Any ideas?

Reese makes a 26.5k hitch that has 6625 tongue weight capacity and it will fit the Ford puck system.......but it's not an air ride hitch. My Hensley TS3 air ride hitch is a brute but is rated at 4500 lbs tongue and 20k gross. My '16 F350 Tow Boss with the 4.30 gears is rated to tow 26.7 (which it will never get anywhere near that) and your F450 is rated at 31.2.

The Ford spec book says that 26.5 is max, don't know why they throw in the high weights. You might want to check and see if that also means the factory puck structure is max'd out at 26.5. Towing over that amount may void your warranty.

There are other 5th wheel hitches avaialable but they recommended only for med. duty trucks. Maybe an F650 would be better? PS....just in case you're wondering what the hitch and adapter looks like.

Trailer Saver

You may want to check with Aaron at Trailer Saver. They have the adapters for the PUCK system and I think he can help you out.

Ill be getting the TS3 air hitch and puck adapter for my 2017 F450 -- as soon as it gets here.

Enjoy the road.

What adapter are you using under your TS 3 hitch? Great picture!

Thanks Swamp Man, that is a Hensley adapter, built like the proverbial chithouse. I found it on ebay for $55, yea that's right. The thing weighs 79 lbs. and the shipping was $70. I think they list for around $400 or so, just gotta keep your eyes open and hit every rv forum you can find, including craigslist.

Don,

I see in your signature line that you list an Air Safe hitch. Since you are purchasing a TS3 and adapter, is there some reason that you don't use the Air Safe?

Louisiana Swamp Man,

Air Safe Hitch has been good. I want to try the Trailer Saver and I have a buyer for the Air Safe Hitch.

Thanks for asking.

This Air Safe is for sale on Craigslist here in Tennessee. I don't need one, but thought I would throw it out here in case it is a good price and someone reading this discussion might be looking for one.
