6.0 oil cooler advice requested.
We will follow up with that when we tear it down.
Given the high quality of work by Firestone like places it very well could have been damaged and replaced and of course they are not going to say...
Thanks for noticing!
The folks did indicate the filter housing and the story is that places that use win or some other brands cause this as the win comes with the dome and they toss the original.
All is fine if you continue same filter but using oem then need new one.
So warning to all is to insist on oem filters if you have someplace change oil...
We flushed 3 cycles of 1 gallon simple green and it was clear here but a 20 mile trip causes the clean water to get ugly.
Just dark but no oil.
Total cost out the door for oem parts oil and egr cooler plus coolant was about $2200.00.
Parts was 1100 of it and with temperature above 103 for some time just did not wish to do it.
Advice for others if they are planning on this.
If the coolers are not catastrophic meaning just a little oil in water and you can drive it flush over weeks.
Open drain while filling with hose with heater full and after it runs clear turn off water and allow enough water to drain to allow a gallon of simple green to be added and sams now has 5 quart size.
Drive it for a few trips and repeat.
Fast idle in the driveway and shirt around the block not quite enough.
Go to lowes and get the 5 gallon size of greased lightening and with a garden sprayer apply to engine and let it soak.
Start engine then spray with water to rinse.
no high pressure needed just standard hose nozzle
Repeat until engine looks new.
If doing work yourself good luck and do have an overhead creeper.
If having ford perform the work coordinate your work as they often charge for flushing unless you have already done so.
Ours may need a flush down the road due to the dark water but will use vacuum to clean the top film from degas tank.
