Oil cooler failure most likely.

I think it would be worth spending a few bucks to have a good tech diagnose the problem to be certain that's what it is...they can monitor the temp difference between oil & water to confirm.

If that's what it is, you'll need to get an oil cooler kit and thoroughly flush the block to get all of the contaminated crap out of the cooling system...I've heard techs here mention the use of Simple Green in this process....hopefully one of them will step in and explain it better than I can.

I wouldn't drive it any farther than where I was taking it for the diagnosis.

The next thing that is ready to fail is the EGR cooler and then if not taken care of it's the dreaded HG. My opinion only.

so you have grey stuff in the degas bottle? or is it more of an orange marmalade looking goop.

either way the awnser to have much time you have left to drive before you have it repaired is still the same. you have no time left. the longer you go the more costly it can and will become to fix. cost of neglecting this concern will lead to complete engine failer.

sorry dont know what to tell you from that with out seeing it. could be some rust floating. look at the rubber seal on the cap. is it deformed?
oil will make a grey goopy mess.
fuel will be orange in color and oily

Well I changed the oil today. No water in oil. I have never seen any water or white out of the tailpipe. When I took the cap off the degas tank there was no pressure like there use to be. Now when I took the oil filter out it was like it was dry, no oil dripping from it. The truck was shut off yesterday around noon, and not started back up until today after I discovered all this

ya nither has anything to do with the "stuff" in the degas tank.
fyi headgasket failers in this engine will not put coolant in oil or oil in the coolant.
if you have coolant in the oil it will be from a failed egr cooler or a cracked block.

Don't you mean if you have oil in the coolant its from a failed oil cooler (not egr cooler), or a cracked block?

if you have oil in the coolant it is from a failed oil cooler
if you have fuel in the coolant it is a failed cup or head
if you have coolant in the oil then its a failed egr cooler or a cracked block.

Are you saying that you are concerned about a possible lack of oil pumping through the filter? Do you see the oil pressure jump up when cranking? The truck won't start without base oil pressure.

Are you using Racor, Motorcraft, or International oil filters?

When my truck sits over night it starts and shuts off about 3 times before it stays running. Then it will be ok the rest of the day. The ficm check out ok. I put a new fuel pump on. Still the same. Today I changed oil. I check coolant opened up the cap and usually would hear a little pressure release but not today. and I noticed what looked like little oil droplets in the coolant. not grey looking or orange. when I took the oil filter out it wasn't dripping oil like I thought it use too when I changed it. Always used motorcraft filters
