It sounds like you were able to clear the non-coagulating debris out of the oil cooler that loosened during the rework, so if it stays in the 3-4*F range you should be fine. The cooler can clog with two types of debris. If it's flakes or other particles, they will just be at the intake side surface and can be reverse flushed out. If it's the silicate drop out then that is what forms the gel that adheres to the hot surfaces. It doesn't sound like that's was your issue right now.
