anyone ever modified the BPD Oil cooler relocation kit

I. Am thinking about doing this type setup

BPD relocate kit with 100% filtration spliced in

My thoughts are getting a filter setup to flow enough to cool oil even if it a twin filter setup with a tee

What else do you guys see being an issue??

Do you mean to not use the BPD cooler?

Space is always an issue with our trucks.

I'm not sure that I'd put the filter inline with the cooler. Just add an auxiliary filter from a company like Sinister or something.

So counting the origonal, this is the third oil cooler for you? I know laying across the front of your truck is gonna be hell on your back but at least you know exactly what to do now. Doesn't all the oil going to the cooler go through the the filter on BPD Kit? I thought the block adapter replaces the factory filter and replaces it with that big honkin' spin on filter.

They sell a kit that reuses the factory oil filter.

I'd look into the IPR then if that's what you want to do. The cooler isn't mounted under the oil filter and it looks like it would take a 1/2 hour to change out if you need to.

Benny - sorry to hear this!!

I wonder if it isn't the oil cooler bypass valve? I don't think it is common, but they do occasionally fail (open).

Do you know what's clogging the cooler, rust, sand, gel or just crud?

Flakes of something clogging it

Last year when I did oil cooler I pulled it out and once I saw the flakes I new the vc9 flush I did was a bust

I tried soaking the flakes in simple green and I think lacquer thinner just to see if I could break them down but those didn't touch it

The flakes look like gold color when held to light
Really thin almost transparent

Kinda a dull red color if your not holding the flakes to a light

Idk what it is honestly best I can figure is the original gold coolant protection layer hardened and came out 6 years after the switch to ELC

purely a guess
