Ok so I have to replace my oil pan gasket in a 92 302 I know Have to lift the engine up high to do it but I don't have access to a host can't afford one right now
I'm not completely piling the engine I'm only lifting it as high as necessary
and this has to get done in the next 2 Days I need this done any help on how to lift it and hold it would be greatly apprectated
When I did mine in my 94 302 4x4 I removed the upper intake, fan shroud and radiator. Unbolted the transmission from the cross member. Unbolted the engine and jacked it from under the oil pan with a wood spacer between jack and pan. I had to go to max height until the fuel pressure regulator was close to the firewall. Then I stuffed some wood blocks between the engine mounts and the engine to hold it up.
I also used a combination of extra engine support blocks and jacks and jack stands to support the transmission. Then I removed the pan bolts and reached in with sockets/wrench to unbolt the oil pump and pickup tube. I think I wiggled the pump out to make it clear the bottom end of the engine. I also had to unbolt the exhaust y-pipe from the manifolds and air pump before the pan could be wrestled out.
I cleaned up the old gasket and the mating surfaces. The Fel-pro one piece gasket with the pegs that hold it up for you worked great. Bolting the pump and pickup tube back up with the pan in place underneath was a bit tricky. It's also a bit unnerving to have your hands in the pan while the engine is suspended above it. Support the engine as thoroughly as possible. Two years later, so far so good.
