Selecting a harmonic balancer.

1988 Ford F250, 460 FI, Auto/C6, 4x4, Reg Cab / Long Bed.

Anyone care to recommend a harmonic balancer? My truck is not high performance oriented, or "pushing the limits" in any particular way. But, I've noticed one parts vendor had a dozen different balancers ranging in price from $80.00 to $450.00.

It reminds me of going down the salad dressing isle at the grocery store, holy hell where do I begin?

I'm assuming that a "high performance" balancer is designed to operate at higher rpms. Other than that can anyone describe what is to be gained by a $450.00 balancer? ...other than the cool rattle snake sticker.

A remanufactured stock one is all you need.

You will go faster with the high performance version because your wallet will be lighter.

There's also a little bit of you get what you pay for. When I rebuilt my old 390 I went through two Dorman brand balancers before I found out they were .007" undersized. I believe I went with a professional products brand balancer after that.
