My son has a 2005, F-150 SCREW with a 4.6. Truck is in good shape and has 120k miles. It's been well maintained and has no codes of CEL, but it is a dog. In the past I owned a 2005 with a 5.4 and it wasn't exactly a powerhouse either, compared to earlier 2V 5.4's we've owned.
Just wondering if this is the nature of the beast or if there's any hope of getting some more pep out these engines?
It's the way it is. It's about 50 hp less than the 5.4 and about 70 lb-ft less than the 5.4. It's a good motor, but no powerhouse. I drive an '06 Expedition at work with a 4.6, and compared to my 5.4 F150 its slow.
