A/C Controls intermitently dont work

A/C Controls intermitently dont work
The system will cool just fine. My problem is with the direction switch I think.
It is like the **** is dead. From A/C Max to Defrost it is dead as a door nail.
After a few rotations the system will activate and may not have a issue for a few days. All my fan speeds work just fine.
So where should I look first??

Ok I figured it out.
Tested pump and it worked.
Wiggled fan motor plug and that's the problem.
Been wanting to put a new one in anyway and this is perfect excuse.
Brushes must be bad in the motor
