Tight and Reliable at 185,000
Congratulations on the high mileage achievement! I bought a 2000 F-250 Supercab 2WD with a 6.8L V-10 and 185,000 miles about six months ago. She's a weekend warrior and get's the best maintenance with Ford parts and Motorcraft fluids. Working on the truck is a fun hobby and being in a Ford truck again is like coming home.

All I can say is FANTASTIC!!! I just bought an 06 V10 with 144,000 on the clock about a year and a half ago and hoping I can get that kind of service out of mine! I've had to do a few repairs to ours though. New cats & Y pipe along with all new oxygen sensors - it had a PO420 code when I bought it and knew about this. New serpentine belt, starter & alternator and replaced the leaking oil cooler block to oil cooler gasket. I've been very lucky though. The starter gave up the ghost in my driveway and the alternator died while at home and not on one of our camping trips.

Update - Not good news
Well latest update brings sad news. At 349K the coolant system lost it. It's not in the oil and it still runs but it is loosing about 1/2 gallon out the exhaust every time I drive it. Not sure what failed.
Got a lead on a nice 2001 motor for it with less than 150K on it. Doing some research on the forum about the upgrade. Sure I'll have questions.

The truck owes you nothing. These trucks are some of the most reliable I have seen.
I have over 250,000 on my 2001. So far I have put in two sets of plugs, AC clutch, one set of brake pads, Fuel pump many oil changes, filters etc and it is still going strong. I am still towing a 30ft travel trailer at least once a month.
Still the original cooling system except for fluid.
The engine is sweating a little oil. Started at over 225K but does not leave a stain on the drive. The only thing worn out is the driver side seat cover and the owner. I have done so little work in this truck I am starting to loose my skills.
Amazing.

All of my fords have always been reliable. This truck has never been any different. I thought about just fixing the leak but it would just be a band aid to other problems. Injectors are getting noisy, It's got a tappet sound when warming up and has taken to using a little bit more oil over the years. The new (used) engine will breath new life for many more trips to come.

Although I'm nowhere near 300,000 miles, I finally got around to changing the plugs on my F350 at 128,000 miles. The engine was still running great and the mileage wasn't too bad. But we went on a road trip recently with the 5th wheel and I thought it would be best to change them before the trip. Only one plug was difficult. Lucky me!
I also checked the rotors and pads. Rotors were fine and the pads probably had another 10000 miles left but I changed them anyways. A piston was stuck to the pad's shim/heat shield and the piston cracked as I removed it. So, I replaced the caliper. This is the first and only part that has broken on the truck.
Over the last 128k, everything else has been the typical, expected maintenance items: fluids and filters, one ball joint at 67k, spark plugs, repacked bearings and shocks.
BTW, the truck still doesn't burn oil. I expected to see a little used during this trip but I didn't need to add any.
I can't imagine ever selling this truck.

Well gent at 340,000 I have breathed new life into my truck. The motor a 2006 ford remand out of a 2001 truck with 134,000. So here's to another 200K or more.
Took it for it's first test run, almost 300 mile round trip, and I must say it runs nice. Can I feel the improved power? Maybe, it does get up and go when I step on it. The real test would be hills. But on the first tank of gas it appears that the gas mileage has improved. Came out to almost 14mpg. I'm running the SCT performance tune for the 99. I'm working on getting updated tunes.
The only think that I can pick out is there is a noisy injector. I'll run some sea foam through it and see if I can clean it up.
Happy travels all
