Front suspension options

So, here is the question. Are there any other front suspension swaps that are possible for our pickups?

If not, what else besides a crown Victoria works? What else makes a good swap?

You left out the part about what year model and series truck you have --F100, F250 or F350?

All Bumpside F100s only came with 4-wheel drum brakes. Some '68-'72 F250s/F350s came with optional front discs.

All '73-'79 2WD Dentside F100 through F350 trucks came with factory front discs.

For a Bumpside F100, '73-'79 2WD F100s or '75-'79 2WD F150s make good front disc brake donors. --I have '77 F100 front discs/suspension on my '69 F100.

Dentside 2WD F250s and F350s also make good front disc brake donors for 2WD 250 or F350 Bumpside trucks.

My bad, Ive got a 67 f-100 short box. Im looking for an upgrade from that horrible twin Ibeam suspension. But my skills to install a crown vic IFC lack in the area to do so. So im looking for something that would be a little more direct replacement.... OR if i absolutely have too, something a little easier to find. Crown Vics in this area (north dakota) are hard to find because everyone drives them till they die. And as we all know they last a while!!!

There are many companies that make Mustang II kits like Heidt's, etc. You can find them in Classic Trucks Magazine or Streetrodder magazine. But they are spendy, but if you don't have fab skills to do a CV, they would be the only way to go. The only other alternative is to do a 60-70's Chrysler torsion bar suspension, but where are you going to find a donor nowadays and it requires fab skills. What's wrong with your TIB? It probably just needs the kingpins, shocks, and radius arm bushings replaced. Like UR says, upgrade with a reconditioned Dent front with discs for cheaper.

I know people will cringe when they read this... but i cut the springs. And now the camber is off, which i knew would happen. I havent started looking for an alignment shop to try to do the allignment yet. But i probably will if i cant find something. I just know that one day i would like to do air suspension.

Right now, i have my eyes on a 2000 lincoln towncar that was rolled, so the suspension and engine components are good. I just don tknow if that would work the same as a CV. Im saying that i will do a swap with my fab skills the way they sit now.... but im just trying to find the best option possible.... ya know?

2002-earlier CV front suspension is not the same as 2003-2011 CV front suspension.

Nothing horrible about the twin I beam in a fullsize. If you want lowered, I would use 73-79 spindles on drop beams, then you can keep your bolt pattern. If you use a CV front end you need to either change the rear bolt pattern, swap out to an Explorer 8.8, or run two different bolt patterns.
The 2003+ CV front end is basically a bolt in, it's an aluminum cradle that holds the suspension and steering.

WHATS WRONG WITH I-BEAMS?!?!?!? they're probably the toughest, best riding truck suspension there is!

They're HIGHLY sought after in the off road world, and ford STILL uses a twin I beam setup on the 2wd super duty trucks.

Granted, they aren't the best for road performance, but a lowered truck with fat sway bars will rip up corners as good as can be expected.

Hell I corner my truck HARD! And it almost qualifies as lifted.... I could go a lot harder if it was lowered on low pro street tires.

Exactly, the twin I beam is one of the best toughest truck suspensions ever. Even competition off road trucks often use a version of it. Keeping the I-beams and lower it right plus adding discs like fordsix said is all bolt up stuff that most anyone can do. A crown vic is a much bigger task.

Simplest is lowered I beams with new springs. They are kinda expensive, but all bolt on. Crown Vic requires fab skills, and welding, but may be cheaper. It also presents a bolt pattern change, as mentioned. Mustang II requires even more fabrication, and costs WAY more! Another option, which you don't see much any more, is to graft on the whole front frame from a full size Ford car, like an LTD, or older Crown Vic. Good welding needed, could be cheap. Again, a bolt pattern change.
