replacing quad shocks

Okay so I'm about to order new shocks. But I've noticed there is forward and rearward of front axle. Do I need two of each? Or will 4 of either do?

I do what is listed for the application. Since they are different part number, my assumption is that they are valved differently. Using 4 of the same part # may make the ride too hard or not provide enough to dampening.

They're valved differently and IIRC the front ones are longer when fully compressed.
