What was the part number on the Sanderson header? I am putting a 445 in my 76 with BBM heads and I am having a lot of trouble finding CJ headers for a truck.
Sanderson FF427. Google that and they will come up. I also found some from FPA that looked good, were long tube, and were highly recommended. Google FPA headers. I think Mad Dog will make them but only for wheel well exits, but I didn't want to cut sheet metal.
I would have gone for the FPA ones but they were a little more expensive and I would have to lift the engine out to change them whereas the Sandersons will go in with the engine in place. I will cut up the old ones in place as they are not terribly valuable.

Looked at the pic. They seem to be 8 bolt. Do you think they are gonna work?
First update on the Sanderson headers - with the CJ style heads you pick up four bolt holes over the standard 390 flanges. On the Sanderson FF427 headers I received three of the bolts can't be passed through the holes due to interference from the bends in the tubes.
I might be able to cut one of the holes to form a notch and slide the header in, or use a stud and bolt, but on one or two of them there isn't enough clearance for a nut.
My FPA headers were the same.
I couldn't fit every bolt, but at the same time I don't think I needed to.
Seeing as how 8 bolts normally hold it all just fine, getting 12 in or so isn't going to ruin the seal.
Luckily FPA and many other high quality headers have a 3/8 thick flange that isn't going to warp with some tiny bolts.
If you just HAD to use every bolt hole, why not install studs in the few bad holes? seems you could get a nut on that stud with the headers partially installed.
Interesting to know. We considered studs but there wasn't enough room for a nut on two of them. I was going to go ahead with just the bolts that fit but Sanderson said they would replace them.
Same here with my FPA truck headers...can't use all the holes. With the thick flange and nice gasket that came with the headers I've had no leaks with just over a year's use.
