DVD system

I just bought a 2002 Excursion limited. It has a tiny flip-down screen in the roof and a VHS player in the back of the center console. I would like to install a larger-screen flip down DVD system, but do not want to chop things up. In other words, what options are out there for a stock-appearing setup with larger screen?

There is no need to chop anything, but an aftermarket unit will not look like, nor perform like an LCd screen VHS setup from 14 years ago. My install only removed the factory unit an custom vinyl wrapped a panel piece to mount a larger screen. There are varying level and qualities of screens up to 21" lcd and you can go to the moon from there!

My screen is a 10.2" and is pretty nice for my boys. I am about to mount another unit for the third row and link them so they can watch the same thing or different programming if they desire.

I would definitely recommend you finding a reputable car audio/video shop and pay them what they need to make it great. Nothing worse than a hack that can't get it right.but if you are super handy...go for it!

can you post some pictures of your setup?

and I have 3 questions more
1. When you replace your original dvd system what happens to the AC thats in the same unit?
2. Is it possible to replace the stereo head unit and still be able to control it with the steering wheel and control the dvd with the new head unit?
3. Is best buy capable of replacing theh dvd unit or is that more specialized than what they normally can do?

STAY away, fare fare away from Best Buy. Find a reputable audio video shop near you and question them as if you were leaving your kids there. lol Go to a few of them if you have more then one and look at there work. Most will have photos of what they have done.

I just use the front controls to manage the rear air. It's not a major issue with us.

2. Is it possible to replace the stereo head unit and still be able to control it with the steering wheel and control the dvd with the new head unit?YES, you just need the proper head unit interface module to make them communicate. It's relatively simple.

3. Is best buy capable of replacing theh dvd unit or is that more specialized than what they normally can do?I wouldn't use a national box store for ANY custom work on my truck...especially stereo/video!!! Do your homework, it's worth it.[/QUOTE]

Since this is a ford forum I figured you wouldnt mind looking up the answer for me and posting it here as others would benefit from it too.

I recently bought
Noico Liner 157 Mil 37.5 Sqft Car Heat Insulation Pad, Foam Self-adhesive Sound Deadening and Automotive Dampening Mat for Cars (1/6'' Sound Deadener)

and

Noico 80 mil 36 sqft car Sound deadening mat, butyl automotive Sound Deadener, audio Noise Insulation and dampening

from your amazon site as noted in the above thread reply (I did get the discount applied to my credit card after contacting you above).

In the next week or so I am going to take my excursion in to get the dvd player replaced and will have them insulate / deaden the roof while they are at it.

How many more of the above liner and mat do I need to buy to cover the roof of my 2004 excursion 4wd?

I dont need to buy any more adhesive stuff or anything else do I?
