First time over in this section guys so take it easy on me!? LOL
I have a Clarion single din head unit in my EX with the litle add in tray under it to fill in the extra space. looks great but I want a DVD player? My question is this........... WithOUT breaking the bank what is the best all in one unit I can put in place of my Clarion with a flip out LCD, DVD, am/fm, and CD. I am running an amp so would prefer it to RCA jacks. Any help and/or links to players would be greatly appreciated!! Again.........on a budget here!? Thanks.......
If you want a flip out screen that plays DVD but without navigation your options are pretty limited and I would suggest an Alpine unit. For a few dollars more you can get a flip out screen that plays DVD & has navigation, in that case I would first suggest an Eclipse AVN unit & my second choice and cheaper option would be a Pioneer AVIC unit. All of them will be an improvement over the Clarion unit.
Have you looked into the double din head units? I like them a lot better than the flip out ones. It will fit your Excursion with some minor trimming to the dash panel. I personally have the Kenwood DDX-6019, which can be found pretty reasonable now days online. If I were buying now though I would get the DDX-7019 as it has nicer controls and other features. You could add navigation later on down the road with the KNA-G510 unit if you decide you want it (I added it to mine in when I moved everything from my 99 F250 to my 07 F350).
