I want to get a new head unit for my excursion (2004 6.8l) with the factory dvd system. If I get a dvd player head unit, can I let the rear dvd player stand alone and still function through the headphones, and also as an output on my new head unit? I would like a unit the wife can watch from a visor screen and the kids can watch the factory unit through the headphones. I just get to watch the road...
check my previous posts, I've posted on a similar subject before. it is easy get the rear dvd to work with an afermarket head unit. check my post and let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks, I knew it was out there somewhere, but my searches were coming up as dead ends.
Thanks again I now have what I need to do the install myself, so I can just drive in peace while the family is plugged in. I sould wire a headphone jack for the front so I can have my XM over the speakers while everyone else watches the movies, the unit I am looking at has dual zones so that should work...
glad I could help. In the next year I'll be putting in headrest monitors in the rear of the front seats. I have the factory dvd but would not have ordered it on the truck, My truck was the only one exactly the way I wanted it but it had the dvd...it is way way too small in my opinion it should have been a 10" from the facotry. have even thought of how I'll sent it up but now I have the NAV/dvd up front that will play on the rear screen in the aux input and the rear screen can be independant.
These truck end up being like a house....you get one thing/project done and think of two more. the list has a snowball effect....
