Based on our march towards clean air I would expect the government to require either factory or factory equivalent exhaust systems on all our motorized cars/trucks/motorcycles/boats/snowmobiles/atvs/etc. at some point in the future. I have nothing to point to but I could see this happening in the next 5-10 yrs. I could then see the government requiring all cars from a particular date forward (maybe 1996) to have "legal" exhaust systems. I could also see the automobile manufacturers and exhaust manufacturers to view this as a positive. The eventual law would have people either buying lots of replacement exhaust parts or having to replace their vehicles as they would no longer pass inspection.
Just food for thought ...

My 2014 Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail SxS has a catalytic convertor built into the muffler... Gets hotter than heck too... I had to wrap the exhaust pipe to keep from melting the plastic firewall...
My 22hp 2012 Toro riding lawnmower has one as well, I'm told...
So Yes, the pollution control laws are coming back and in a bigger way...

I'm curious what your concerns might be.. no matter how insignificant. I'll tell you this - my wife manages a truck fleet and they have them all, powerstrokes, duramax, dodge (when they're actually in-service) and the emissions components send them all to a premature end per the data she's collected over the years. In my opinion your truck will run better and it will be a little different in regard to noise, smell, power and transmission behavior. A good tune writer and the proper equipment can deal with almost all of that. It isn't that expensive either.. way cheaper than a DPF replacement.
