Hi guys
im looking to upgrade to a 6.7 from my 6.0 in the coming months as I'm kind of tired of the constant issues with my cooling system(in the year I've had it, it's been in the shop almost 3 months). I'm a bit of a forward thinker when I make plans such as this and I tend to spend my free time thinking about modifications that can be done. I was thinking about the possibility of a dpf delete but I live a state with strict emissions testing. My question is if I were to delete the dpf and set it aside and put it on once a year for inspection would it pass? I'm sure there's a similar thread on here somewhere but I wasn't able to find one. Thanks for any answers

In theory, anything is possible, but the real question is whether it is practical or not. If you take it off, you should be able to put it back and "unprogram" the truck. Most people also remove the DEF tank and associated hardware. Depending on what time of the year you need to re-install the components will also factor into is it doable along with the access to a second vehicle to use should problems arise.

Least we not forget the human dexterity factors and age are factors also if one keeps the truck a number of years.

I kept my DPF as I need to pass testing every 2 yrs. I also did EGR block off rather than full delete. I can test up to 1yr before it's required which gives me time to take it for testing first to see if I get a pass before I put the parts back on. As far as I know (haven't tested a diesel yet, my son has) we just need no visible smoke from the tailpipe which mine passes after it's warm.
