Delete or not delete
Hello folks! I have searched the forums over and found several inquiries about deleting the DPF. I have a 2011 which is completely stock and has over 120,000 miles. On my latest trip, 200 miles, my truck went into regen at least 4 times. I've noticed more and more lately. This makes me think the DPF is getting towards the end of its life. Now the questions, do I replace the DPF or delete it or is there something else causing the regens? I am not looking for anymore power from the truck and the warranty is gone so no worries there. It's a daily driver used for occasional pulling. If I do delete it are there any suggestions or anything to stay away from? I've read until my eyes hurt but can't seem to get any straight answers. If you guys could help me out I would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance. Also, emissions checks are not an issue in my county.
BTW, I'm a rookie here so if I posted this in the wrong place, I apologize.

Andy, as Tim said, welcome aboard.
Do you have emissions testing in your area? If so, reinstalling everything for the testing would be a pain in the rear. If not, deleting can help with current or future issues created by the emissions system.

Don't know what state you are in but here in N.Y. we have state testing every year, a deleted truck will not pass. Tampering with emissions is a Federal violation. Just traded in my '09 diesel Ram towards a new 6.7 Lariat, & the dealer had my Ram inspected by a tec. to see if it had been deleted, if it was they would not have taken it. Just a few things to consider.

You can clean the DPF with some solvents meant for it. It could potentially help you out if you wanted to keep it. I can look the DPF service information out if you want it, but most likely you won't. You will want to just delete it.
DPF deletes are expensive, so I will just assume you will be keeping the truck a long time when I say, it's something to consider. As 92F350CC pointed out, they are not irreversible.
I don't ever seem to hear of people putting them back on until trade in time. That tells me something. I am not deleted though, I can't afford to pay and need no excuses to void my warranty, but that isn't your issue.

The two issues that I see that should be considered prior to a delete is:
For many, these points are not a problem. Delete, delete, delete....
- Warranty - when important, expensive parts break, you need to write the big check to get the truck fixed.
- Local Support - We see posts here from time to time around troubles with deleted trucks. Tough for FTE people to help. When your deleted truck does not start, do you have any local help to get her back running?
