Found one!

I have struck a deal on a '51 F-1 with 351W with a mild cam and headers and C4. Per your recommendations, I found a solid truck. It runs strong but has stock brakes, steering and rear. The body is solid and the interior is done with new gauges in the dash (in the speaker grille). It has a tilt wheel also. It will be picked up next week. Once it gets here I will determine what to do first, PB or air. The current owner says it steers very well for a manual steering truck. It will be a cruiser this summer and then any work that I plan to do will be done this winter. I'll let you know how it comes along. Once it gets here, I'll post some photos.

Later!

Congrats! Wise choice on getting something you can drive immediately.
I would recommend driving it for a while before deciding too much. She will tell you what she needs.
Stock brakes and steering do just fine if you keep them in good shape.
I look forward to pictures and your future enhancements to the truck.

Wish I'd have known you a few years back when I lived in Springfield. I could have helped you.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. Henry will be driven this summer as is and then any work will be done during the winter. There are a few items that need to be addressed according to the previous owner. The biggest is the fuel gauge which works fine until you turn on the headlights which is just a wiring issue. I have already bought a service manual. It has an EZ harness so there shouldn't be any issues with that other than making sure everything goes where it should. Someone put nice gauges in the truck but they put them in the speaker grille and ashtray. I am looking to change the original non functioning gauges to a set of aftermarket ones that go in the original opening. I am in need of a speaker grill to replace the cut up one that is in the truck. The interior is done and in great shape.

Once Henry gets here, I will take some more photos and introduce him to the site. Here is one from the ad.

Later!

Nice find, Ed! A worked 351 with stockies sounds like a recipe for lots of fun.

Thanks guys. I bought the speaker grille from e-bay. Now I need to get the truck here. I called Horseless Carriage but they wanted way too much money.
