Turbo and exhaust upgrades

Hey guys I've been mulling over the idea of doing a muffler job on my 2002 f350 7.3 cc short bed. I do tow on and off for work and dual material for work. Im thinking of upgrading the exhaust because I noticed a couple small leaks in the muffler and I'd like to lower the egt's for the truck and help it breath a bit smoother. What do you guys think is a reputable brand and performance. I'm not a fan of the really high pitched sounds I've heard on some I want it deep and heavy sounding. The turbo is fine for now but eventually I'll need to know what to upgrade to once it starts to wear out. I don't plan on doing dumb chips or tunes becuase it's not a toy truck but a work and daily driver. Plus I'm not a child when it comes to my trucks. Lol. Thanks guys.

4" to 5" exhaust will give you that low rumble. As for turbo a nice billet wheel will do for a faster spool and a bit more boost and lower your egt., look into spturboost.com for the SPX wheel and rebuild kit.

4" sounds better to my ears, and it's all the diameter you'll need unless you take it to extreme power. MBRP has a nice authoritative note.

If leaving truck stock(thumbs up), I'd do my due diligence and make sure both intake and exhaust is sealed up....bellowed uppipes(Dorman or international from riffraff), cac boots with new T clamps, plenum inserts and a good breathing filter.
. With keeping her stock, then why the turbo upgrade? Can keep both, the 360* rebuild turbo kit and wicked wheel on the shelf for when time comes. As for exhaust, can cut out the muffler for now and see I you can tolerate that sound and if wanting atad quieter, install the Walker muffler...

Everything should be sealed I had some work done and they unbolted the trans and engine so everything got put back by the diesel tech at the shop. I'll probably see what if a muffler shop could put one together for me nothing fancy just a simple 4" turbo back that dumps out in front of rear tire. I'm thinking about add the aid II sever duty intake kit here at some point. The turbo idea was pretty much just to see what's out there when this one goes on me.

My only concern with a turbo back exhaust is the sound quality when I'm driving. My buddy had a 4" mbrp turbo back exhaust system and at idle, low speeds it sounded great but when ever he pushed on it sounded like an annoying gas engine with straight pipes. I want mine to be deep and throaty not that annoying sound of exhaust. The only other thing I plan to do to my truck is put in a sever duty filtration system and a bully dog tuner interface to only monitor the trucks vitals I see no purpose in modding the truck if I don't have the money to do the turbo, engine, injectors, transmission and so on. Also how hard is it to put this exhaust system in on my own?

No it was 2006 6.0. But I really didn't like the high end sound it had. It took away from the sound of it being a diesel. Not sure why it sounded like that either.

6.0 has different sound than a 7.3, the 7.3 has a choppy sound, I personally like the sound of a 6.0 vs a 7.3 and like any turbo engine your not going to hear the engines real sound.

True on not hearing the real sound of the engine. I'll probably just get this one anyways for the money I can't beat it. If it's not what I want I can toss the muffler kit they sell on to help. Hopefully I will be doing this build soon.

Someone on here was talking about an exhaust system that was 3.5" at the turbo, stock is approx. 3" and gradually opened up to 4" by the time it reached the bottom of the firewall. Supposedly, this creates a better flow, less turbulance, for the exhaust side of the turbo. This will also make the install a tad easier....even though the 4" down is not a bad install.

Does anyone remember the name of the company?

Additionally, for an inexpensive upgrade to the turbo:

RDP 66mm GTP38 Conversion Kit - Riffraff Diesel Performance

this basically takes your stock L99+ turbo and turns it into a quasi 38R and the price is reasonable.
