HELP please:: transmission problems....electrical
here is what its doing..... throws P0722 and P0720 trans codes (both for output shaft sensor), at a stop overdrive light on shifter will start flashing one of 3 things will happen when i take off, 1) trans will start to slip and as soon as i lift of pedal engine will die 2)will start RPM will sputter HARD and jerk entire truck (trans not slipping when it does this) then sometimes it will die and rarely it will rev a couple times and come out of it and light OD light will stop flashing when shifts through all gears. or 3) OD light will start flashing and i take off and its runs out fine and stops flashing when shifts through all gears.... again it does this when at a stop only and it doesnt do it every time, some days more than others. But if i put the truck into nuetral when i stop it does absolutely none of this light turns green i drop it into gear and take off no problem...... it doesnt seem to matter what the temp is or if its raining or not..... also not sure if its related BUT occasionally my left turn signal will ramdomly start flashing fast like bulb is bad (and front left signal does not flash rear is fine) then a little later will work fine and 2 times blower motor will not work but later comes on just fine...
here is what has been done so far... output shaft replaced twice, replaced connector to output shaft sensor, found bad ground wire to starter and replaced, swapped input and output shaft sensor to see if it made a difference (no change), replaced shifter lever (found bad wire for OD button), when shop had truck they also checked wires at PCM and also ground wires at PCM, all OK
i do not know what to do with it have had it to 2 different mechanics and neither can come up with anything.... only thing one has said is possibly the GEM module, i know how to work on engines but i am not good at transmissions or electrical stuff, but by reading online i dont really dont see how the GEM could affect the transmission.....i dont think anything inside trans is wrong because when out on highway it runs drives and shifts perfectly fine.... but i could be wrong... any help with this would be greatly appreciated i just want this fixed
The problem is almost certainly in the wiring between the output speed sensor and the PCM. The easiest way to confirm that is to run two new wires from the sensor to the PCM.
