Headlights/Brakes causing high idle?
recently purchased a 95 f250 xl with the 351 as a project. been chipping away at it little by little. this weekend, i did some patching on the center and passenger side floor. when it came time to call it a night and pull the truck out of the garage, i noticed the brakes caused the check engine light to blink one time. the engine then briefly died down then jumped to around 2,000 rpm's where it stayed for a couple seconds before returning to a normal idle.
I found that turning on the headlights caused the same problem, however, if either the headlights or the brakes were already engaged, applying the other additionally would not cause the issue to repeat.
this happens in park or drive.
The battery is pretty junky. i left it disconnected over the weekend so i could weld and had to jump start it when finishing up tonight.
The only issue i can think of would be that i didn't protect the wiring harness next to the passenger's legs from sparks/ shavings well enough. i did not see any clear damage, but didn't investigate too thoroughly as it was getting late.
does anyone know if this harness contains any probable causes or could it be another issue?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
