Question Engine idles high when brakes are applied?

Okay guys, It's cold, I go out to start up my 94 F-150 4.9L 4x4 and the battery is dead. It's strange because nothing was left on to run it dead. This isn't the first time this has happened either. So I jump it, and let it run for a minute or two. As I go to leave the driveway, I apply the brakes and the engine idles about a grand higher and the voltometer and speedometer needles go eratic. The ABS light and check engine lights also flicker on and off quickly. Then the engine idles back down to normal and will run fine until you touch the brakes again. My first thought was an engine vaccum, but it could also be a sensor, could it not? And just to add to the confusion, it doesn't do it all the time! Somedays it runs fine. So, now what? If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it.

Well, this morning makes the third morning in a row that the same thing has happened, so apparently I've jinxed myself. Still no replies, so I'm taking it that this isn't a common thing? Ha Ha Ha
