03 navigator rear hatch latch and liftgate ajar intermitent
Hey everyone,
Yep its another liftgate ajar message, but with the message being intermitent. I searched the forum but couldn't find anything pertaining to the navigator.
Run down of what I've done so far.
I removed the latch assembly and sprayed the crap out of it with WD40. Reinstalled it, removed battery cable for about an hour. After reintalling battery cable, it worked fine, no liftgate ajar message.
Then after trying different methods of opening hatch, it shows up liftgate ajar again in message center. It doesn't matter how its opened it will give the message.
Then I let it sit and next time I start it up, no liftgate ajar message. Its like it sits and resets itself. (It has always seemed to reset itself after sitting, even before I tore it apart and lubed it up)
Another note. If the liftgate ajar message is showing in the message center, I have to manually open the hatch. It will not open with the key fob or the switch in the upper console. Also the glass is closed, wiper works, and can use the key fob to open the glass still.
.
I'm stumped????
Anyone have anything to try to fix this? Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

My '06 does not always latch completely. If I open again and close, it latches. Or if I push the lift gate while in the closed postion it will click and latch completely.
THe frequency that this occurs is rare, so I have not checked it out. I assume there is an adjustment to have the door pull in all the way. However since the occurance is rare I mostly just push the liftgate a little if it does not completely latch.
Nay not help you much and is just what I do.

Action, thanks for the reply, mine does latch all the way. I tried pushing it, that didn't help.
I read the "bypass liftgate ajar" posts, but that was a post on a 2005, mines a 2003. Also sprayed the crap out of it and slammed it, still didn't help.
