Background: My 06 started up and ran fine until #7 injector took a crap.I had the injectors replaced with 155/stocks from warren.
Well no we're having an issue with a hot no start. Starts and runs just fine cold but once up to temp and you shut her down you can't start it again till it cools. Air tested it 3 different times can't find any leaks. Swapped out the ipr with a new one my mechanic had just to see and no change, unplugged it and no change. Im out of ideas on what it could be. When warm and trying to start it only gets 300psi. The only other thing i can think of is hpop, but to go just like that without any trouble before hand has me puzzled. I wanted to get some opinions first before i fork over more money on a hpop, the injectors already made a big dent in my toy fund.
oil pan levels staying the same?
Don't forget that shop air is only 125psi.... the system runs near 4000psi and most likely won't be found with shop air. Some places use nitrogen to test with at higher pressures.
Have you had the air continuously applied overnight? Maybe the system needs to be not filled with oil to hear a leak, as in the rails need to be empty.
Did you do standpipes and dummy plugs while in there? Or the STC fitting?
Standpipes an dummy plugs an stc done prior. And had it on air overnight still no leak. Just gonna replace the hpop hate throwing parts but seems the most logical and at worse if it ain't the pump I know I have a good one in there.
That would be IPR. Check ICP voltage ad that is actual pressure the sensor sees. Also get IPR @2500 rpm, should be 40%, more indicates a leak or weak pump.... before you spend $1000
So after having #7 injector fail, ordered Warren's 155/stock's($1000+$200 labor) waited a month for them to get to me. Get the truck off to get them put in(whole other adventure finding a truck big enough to pull mine on a trailer). Come to find out it has a hot no start issue. Well found out it ended up being a torn seal on the HPOP($650+$150 labor). Get everything buttoned up thinking finally done.... nope. Now Injector #2 has a power balance issue. So now i gotta call Warren to get them to send me another(if they answer the phone). I love my truck I really do and I know that it's all apart of owning one but sometimes I swear I hate this truck.
When your air testing is the truck cold or hot?
Your more likely to find a hot leak when the engine is hot. So try this if you have not already done it.
Get it hot and quickly replace the ICP with the test hose and adaptor. Put air to it and give it a short
while to let most of the oil blow out. Remove the elbow that has the crank case vent so you can hear
if any air is coming that way and also listed down the oil filler. Your best bet is to use a mechanics stethoscope
to help you hear things. Apply power to the IPR and start to listen on the passenger side for air. Move to
the driver's side and listed last take the tip and go to the HPOP cover and listen.
Even with stand pipes being replaced they have cracked in a few cases and that would get you a hard or no start
that would get worse as the engine warmed up. Also a nick on one of the D-rings would do it also, Might be worth
the time to just pull the stand pipes and dummy plugs and inspect the seals.
It was the hpop found a tear in the seal still ain't figured out why it didn't leak tested it hot cold an 7 ways from Sunday no leak. Threw a reman pump in and works like a charm.
