Hi all. Looking for some ideas for a on board air compressor. I want to install it under the truck. Either a complete system or a system you have put together and has had good service out of it.
I've looked at Viair systems but most of there small units only have a 25% duty cycle. To run it about 10 minutes with a 30 minute cool down time is not acceptable for me.
My whole system is comprised of parts I ordered from Amazon. The compressor is a Viair 2 gallon 150psi 30%DC VIAIR 150 PSI High-Flow Air Source.
The manifold I assembled with the valves are to fill or dump air for the airbags. I have a line that goes to a stake pocket in the body for a hidden air chuck to fill tires and such. Also I ran a line to the front for the triple air horns. The bags are adjustable on the fly using the switch I mounted in the dash, also from Amazon.
I used 5" wide 3/16 aluminum plate for a mount and hung it under the body on the passenger side. It's up out of the way and at eye level can't be seen.
Sorry for fuzzy pics, lens broke on my phone.
Thank you for the post and pics 87Crewdually and laff113. Definitely, some great ideas there. I'll check out the viair 150 system. I didn't see that one when I was looking.
Basically, I'll be using the system for general use tires, air beds and later. Air horns and suspension.
Ran into a guy with a Jeep 4-wheeling who used an old air conditioning compressor as an air compressor. Engine driven with a small reservoir tank. He aired up all 4 of his 37" tires up from 10psi to 30 psi in about 5-minutes.

No AC though...
That's what I did on my 87 Samurai. Removable top so I didn't need A/C anyways.
