Posted a def usage history a few months ago. Search and compare to what you are experiencing. The time period included a 2 month period that was over 8k miles of towing. The last fill-up was done when system said I was around 400 miles too empty. Only would take slightly less than one 2 1/2 gal jug and it overflowed. Have never filled with def unless system reports less than 500 miles to empty.

regens are nothing compared to the 6.4. No worries here.

They built enough steel into the exhaust so that it could actually passively regen.

EGR is dialed back as well.

I usually get 5000 miles or more between DEF refills, but more like 2500-3000 when towing. I filled last time after my CTS showed 66% for close to 800 miles. It took the whole jug and showed 99%, but was back down to 67% after a few hundred towing miles. Since my local NAPA had a sale in May for $8.99 for Peak, I picked up 3 jugs. Used another whole jug this time and it shows 100% so I didn't get it filled last time. And the readings are not at all accurate.

With a 2011 Diesel and pulling a 16,000+ 5th wheel (c. 70% towing and c. 30% non-towing), I got about the following:

Used 8 gallons over 5,500 miles
687.50 Miles per Gallon of DEF
$0.00698 Cents: Cost per Mile----Hope my calculations are correct!

DEF and Flying J

I have been using the def on the pumps on the 18 wheeler side of the Flying Js a hell of a lot cheaper than buying it by the jug and a lot easier too. Wonder when the stations are going to install def at the RV pumps.

I haven't tried that because 1) I add one jug at a time which is often every few months so $9-12 just isn't a big deal and 2) I worry about the quality of it in a big underground storage tank and 3) some truck stops have it come from the same pump as the diesel which makes me question possible contamination.
