5th wheel camper????

I have seen this 5th wheel camper that I might be interested in. my concern is more with my truck than the camper.

The camper looks fairly new, about 18'-20' (from back of truck) with a tandem axle.

My truck is a 92 F150 4x4, with a 300-6 and a 5 speed. It is a shortbox regular cab pickup. The rear springs have been replaced and are heavier than stock (not sure how much heavier)

My question is, Will my truck handle this (or another) 5th wheel camper, or should I stick with the normal trailer style camper?

5th wheel camper????

Your transmission is probably your biggest limiting factor. I wouldn't recommend a 5th wheel because they are generally heavier than regular TT's.

Here's a thread I found that lists the trailer weights for a truck similar to yours out of a '93 manual. Check the second post by hitecdan: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...ighlight=mazda

It looks like your trailer choices may be limited to a lightweight trailer like pop-up tent trailer or something only slightly heavier.

When looking at trailers, look for the trailer's GVWR and use that as basis to see if it's compatible with the limitations of your truck.

I dont think that you have enough truck to pull a 5th wheel
trailelr, maybe a very small and light travel trailer...you need a bigger truck

5th wheel camper????

Sounded like the consensis is the truck isn't quite enough truck. So I went out, bought a tent and a 4 wheeler.

Thanks for your help. You saved me allot of potential headache.
