Hi guys
2005 5.4 - this is really weird to me, 4x4 hi works good, 4x4 lo not working at all. After 130+ tries to engage I'm givin' up on this...
Anybody can point me to some troubleshooting with 4x4lo?

there is an electric motor on the side of the transfer case ( behind the transmission). The electric motor shifts the gearbox from HI to LO gear. Best bet is the case motor is stuck or failed... also possible you lost power ( fuse / wire) to the motor. Pull the motor off, set on a bucket with the cable plugged in and test.

After the transfer case motor selects HI or LO , then the front wheels are vacuum engaged in step 2.

Hi, thank you for reply, my TCM looks good as far as I can tell

I've checked also this electrical part inside (dunno how to say it in english... sorry) - electric motor?

I suppose, this works good, because it enagage 4x4 hi mode.

The creepy fact is, that wires are cut (I've bought truck with wires like that) I've done some repair to the wires, but actually I don't know where they goes to? AFAIK they goes to tranny some way? Some kind of a sensor?
TIA

that motor that runs to the HI position also runs to the LO position. Either the motor does not stroke full position, or you have a big problem inside the transfer case.

Is it possible, that wire goes somewhere to some kind of stop sensor, which could be dirty or broken, and then the motor is not allowed to shift?
The procedure of engage 4x4lo require to full stop and N on tranny, so I'm wondering if all electric parts are ok.

with the motor removed, you should be able to rotate the part on the transfer case to full position and see if it will engage 4 x 4 LO ......... also power the motor up and see if it runs full position... I don't think the transmission or neutral are stopping you.. That is the procedure, but I don't think it monitors the procedure.

Hit the case with a hammer.......lack of use freezes them up.
