There is no way that I can adequately thank those who gave the final measure for our nation. Everything we have, is due to their sacrifice and that of their families. To all the veterans, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for your service.
Today at 3PM local time is the "National Moment of Remembrance", please take this pittance of time to silently honor the memory of our fallen heroes.
To all my brethren that ever walked into a MEPS station and raised their right hand and took an oath for the amount up to and including your life, THANK YOU!
And to the families of those that serve THANK YOU as well!!!
Thanks to all that have, will or are serving to provide us the freedom we enjoy everyday.
I have just submitted for retirement from active duty on 1 May 2017 which will put me at 22 years and 4 months of service. I am very grateful and thankful that I have not had to give all for the safety of my family and nation, despite being presented with the possibility several times in my career.
God bless the USA and those who protect and guard her.

As always, from the bottom of my heart. Thank you to those of you who have served or are currently. It is one of my deepest regrets that I was at MEPS and put my hand down and told them to take me home that day back in 1990. They were jerking me around for sure, but I still have tremendous respect for all that serve(ed). For those that gave the ultimate sacrifice and their surviving family members, I do not have the words.
I spent the morning on Memorial Day helping set up the Avenue of Flags at the Orange Grove Cemetery in Lake Charles,La. It is the largest such display of casket flags that have been donated by the families of veterans in the area. There were 979 flags on display yesterday. When done setting up I went and found # 741 which belonged to my grandfather.
I did not serve, but I always appreciate those who did and those who continue to serve..... that sacrifice is not lost on this ole boy....
