AFAIK Grant does not offer an adapter for the early Ford steering column, nor was an internal turn signal switch offered until 56(?) So someone has drastically modified your column. There is no way to know what they did without pulling it apart. If the wheel adapter can be easily removed, then the column can be easily disassembled. Where is the horn button, in the center of the wheel or a pushbutton switch mounted somewhere else?
To answer your question a popular salvage yard column is an 80's era Chevy van with floor shifted standard tranny There are some aftermarket columns that either look stock and/or give you adjustable tilt like Ididit (what I used with my Toyota PS box).or flaming river. Avoid the no brand/low price Chinese tilt ones on ebay they are notorious for failing due to poor design. Maybe someone can find the link for the bad ones report.
Sorry Axracer I have been working a lot. They pay they say I guess. The horn button was on the side of the steering column. And there is a turn signal signal indicator. I thought it looked a little strange. I am going to take off the steering wheel adapter off the column and see what the inside looks like. worst case I have to go junkyard shopping or craigslist surfing. If I change to a newer column do I pull all the parts off the donor car? Like column, steering box and such? And if I remember correctly someone said a gm van steering column would work? Or maybe a ford truck?
I pulled the steering wheel adapter off and found that the upper bearing missing. I am going to order another one and see how that goes. Thanks for all the information and help.
