Engine turns over but will not start
2001 F-150 5.4 extended cab
You have probably seen this before. Engine cranks but will not start. Backed into driveway, loaded recyclables, truck would not start. Fuel pump relay clicks, a small amount of gas comes out of the schrader valve on the fuel rail when I press the stem with a phillips head sd. When the engine is cranking the check engine light is on so I assume the computer is working but there are no RPMs showing on the tach. At this point I'm thinking a bad crank position sensor. Would that sucker go all at once like that? I believe they hid that behind the ac compressor. Am I looking at removing the belt and compressor to get at the sensor? Any help/advice is appreciated.

"A small amount of fuel" suggests a fuel supply problem. You should have 40+ PSI which should spray out vigorously after a fuel pump priming cycle.
Brokenlegs is correct. Get a fuel pressure gauge and MEASURE your fuel pressure. That's the difference between knowing and guessing.

when you turn the key "ON", but don't crank, the THEFT light comes on for 3 seconds, then goes out when the computer recognizes the KEY as matched to the truck... Your light goes out after 3 seconds ?
You should get a "small" amount of fuel when you push the Schrader valve, but it should have 40 psi behind it so it will spray.
