Help- 2001 5.4 cranks but won't start
Have a '01 F-250 w 5.4L
Truck will crank but won't start- will run on starting fluid.
Have changed fuel pump relay, fuel pump, fuel filter. Crank sensor.
Have checked inertia switch on passenger side.
Truck isn't getting fuel pressure while cranking. I can see that on my scanner.
I'm at a loss. Anything to check?
I don't have manual for truck.
thanks

I had the same thing going on with my 2000 f250; the fuel pump wasn't turning on to pressurize the fuel rail when the the key was on - engine off. This is what I know and what's working for me:
- put a test lamp on the green/yellow wire going to the inertia switch.
- turn the key on but don't start. The test lamp should light up for a few seconds indicating the fuel pump is priming the fuel rail.
- if the test light doesn't light up you're not getting power to the fuel pump.
I replaced relays/fuses and finally figured out it may be something going on at the key tumbler. I removed the tumbler, sprayed some contact cleaner and reinstalled. It now starts. Try wiggling the key when when it is in the key-on engine-off position; see if the fuel pump kicks on.

Model a ford
Check fuel driver modual. Drivers side, rear crossmember to frame corner, some have a tin cover over them, some are open. They are about 3 X 5 in, usually are corroded from road crud( a definite dumb spot to put an electronic modual) bet you find its badly corroded. Replace unit. About $110 Canadian. ( local parts store) hope this helps.

Same here with 2001 F-250 with 5.4L. Sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't. I thought it was frozen fuel but have treated it till I'm blue in the face and also sometimes it won't start even when it hasn't froze. Definitely not getting gas because it will fire with starter fluid. My key switch does have issues because the ding, ding, ding sound goes off even when the key isn't in the ignition. My underside is also heavily rusted so the fuel driver module could also be the issue. How do you take the tumbler apart?

01 Super Duty trucks do NOT have a puel pump driver module.
Sweet! One less thing to worry about.
That's just the warning that the key is in the ignition, it doesn't have anything to do with anything else. If it bothers you and you want to solve it permanently, just clip the wire that goes to that terminal on the underside of the switch. IIRC, it's purple with a black stripe.

I have not. I was going to do that, but it didn't seem to fix anyone else's problem. Last night I sprayed the tumbler through the key hole with electronic cleaner and then a lubricant. That didn't work. What fuse number in the book is the fuel pump relay? I see a PCM Relay Coil fuse on the inside fuse box - positions #30, and I see a 20 amp fuse in the outside box labeled fuel pump relay coil, mass air flow sensor, fuel injectors, in position #5. Is that what needs to be replaced or is the actual coil somewhere else?
