Hi... New to Excursions and Diesels, but not new to vehicle forums. After searching for about a year and a half, I finally pulled the trigger on an Excursion that was acceptable. I wanted a limited, but the EB is pretty close and I also wanted white. The Estate Green is growing on me.
A little history, vehicle was owned by the first owner until late last year. I'm told that she was the wife/administrative assistant of a Heating and Air company owner. It was purchased by the mechanic that did all the maintenance after the warranty had expired and he bulletproofed it with studs, clearwater heads, dieselsite billet hpop, ford gaskets and oil cooler with an EGR delete. 4 inch mbrp and sct tuner added as well, new Toyo Open Country, various odds and ends up front, etc.
I'm looking forward to learning a lot from you all. I already have something thumping up front that I believe may be hub related, but that's for another thread.
Real nice truck you've got there. Green was one of my top choice colors, white wasn't but it was too good to pass on. The one I bought recently is a 2 owner from the Raleigh area, originally sold at Cross Roads Ford. No rust!
Bulletproofing, huh? What would be a ball park figure to get that done? I'm a bodyguard here in the MI and that is something I have contemplated and just wondering what the ball park would be...

Aaron, I believe that your EX has the V-10, if so it came from the factory "bullet proofed". The mighty V-10 is a thirsty but super reliable engine who's few weak points (plug threads on early models and exhaust studs) can be taken care of fairly easily compared to a full "bullet proofing".
The bullet proofing mentioned above relates to the 6.0 diesel and is a list of upgrades made to address various problem prone items on those engines.
And Welcome to the EX forum and family Johny Walker!
That is a clean looking wagon you have there! Your name seems familiar to me, I think we may have met before............

I got a chuckle out of this question (I'm LE). Aaron, they are referring to the 6.0 engine, and not the whole truck. It is a figure of speech, and not protecting against incoming rounds The 6.0 has a history of problems with the EGR coolers, and the "bulletproofing" term is for the fix to that common problem.
Hi fellow NC EX owner. After hearing all of the horror stories from our Northern brothers and sisters with their rust issues I too am glad to own a Southern Ex.
