which primer to use next

hey folks my truck was apparently stripped to bare metal years ago & has a coat of heavier appearing grey primer, blue paint then black paint.i repaired a damaged rr. qtr. and various rust spots took them to bare metal, body filler then (napa's) acme finish 1 high build dtm acrylic polymer primer. 2 questions can i use filler over napa's primer? what FINAL primer is suggested before paint thanks a bunch & all have safe holiday to all that served bless you & sincere thanks.

You can in fact use filler over the primer as long as you sand it with sandpaper no finer than 180. All of the new fillers and glazes will adhere to 180 grit sanding. Once you have primed and blocked your filler/build primer and get it where you want it, you will want to spray a primer sealer over your bodywork. But beware, most sealers need to be painted over within a certain amount of time otherwise it loses adhesion capability. When you block out your bodywork, use 240 grit. If you want to leave it sit in primer for an extended length of time, and have the metal and bodywork protected, use an epoxy primer. When you finally decide to paint it you will have to sand or scuff the epoxy primer.

Every body person has a slightly different system as in sealers, primers, sandpaper grits. The above advice would be good to follow. It should give you satisfactory results. Good luck! gary
