Sarge: what sort of reputation and experience does your builder have, particularly with Torqshifts? I'd ask him about the parts or suggest which parts you want him to use and get that price, before making a decision.

A good builder will be better than a reman most every time -- there are tricks for reliability, increased power handling, etc. for most every trans ever produced, that you just won't get in a stock reman...

my $.02 -- good luck!

Speaking of reputations...you better do your research on all 3 options, not just your local guy. From what I've read recently, you haven't mentioned any I would go with.

I have a good relationship with my local guy which is why I asked him for a quote. He does have a good idea of what needs to be done to the TS, he rebuilds them all the time. I was going to give him a list of parts that Warren uses and see if what he does is comparable.

Well then enlighten me on your knowledge and who you would recommend Mr. BlueHeart. That's what the question was.

All I have is Internet experience. As long as I've been on FTE, I haven't heard anything repetitively good about ATS except how good their website and marketing is. Lol
Warren is spoken about very well on powerstroke.org for their injectors....to the point that if you bad mouth them you will be silenced. Their trans hasn't been as highly regarded for what I've read. I even posted a link recently about Warren's lack of customer service. None of it was based on my personal experience. My point is that YOU need to do your own research to determine who you should go with. Internet recommendations are just that.
When I first purchased my first powerstroke, I read every single thread about every single topic I could on FTE. From what I gathered at the time, John Wood and Brian's Truck Service were the go to trans shops for FTE. I'm not sure if that was 7.3 specific or not. I also don't know if either company still holds that high quality, go to reputation. Reading around on the .org, I see mentions of numerous other trans shops too. Each site has it's "favorite" for various reasons. It's up to you if one shop's problems or past history will affect your decision.
The great thing is that there is a ton of threads out there discussing the different shops. My original post wasn't intended to dissuade you from your first 2 choices, but to make sure that you would make an informed decision based on more than a known name.
Good luck!
